Dog Licenses

West Virginia law requires the Assessor to collect a license tax each year on all dogs over 6 months of age. Beginning July 1 of every calendar year, all dogs in Wetzel County must be licensed annually. 

Notice: any online dog tag applications received from the end of May through June 2026, will be held and not processed until July 1, 2026. New dog tags for 2026-2027 will start being processed on that date.  If you need to purchase a current tag before the new year begins on July 1st, please visit the Assessor's Office in person. Thank you.

Processing time for online tag appplications will take between 2-3 weeks.
